1. Pokémon HeartGold & Pokémon SoulSilver
Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver are peak Pokémon.
Remakes of the generation two games Pokémon Gold and Silver, HeartGold and SoulSilver are still to be topped. The games have two separate regions to explore, making them easily the largest Pokémon games, your Pokémon can walk behind you allowing you to connect to them more so than in any other Pokémon game.
As remakes, they improve upon everything wrong with the excellent generation two games. No longer are the games really buggy, no longer is Kanto barely populated, no longer does the game have the graphics of a Game Boy game (although that can't exactly be blamed on Gold and Silver).
The game's story is a bit more fleshed out and there's more post-game added to the already huge post-game.
The game also came with the Pokéwalker, a way to walk with your Pokémon in real life way before Pokémon Go did it.
