20 Best Open-World Video Games Of All Time
13. Darksiders 2
Y'know how you really, really wanted another Legacy of Kain game, but Eidos refuse to give us one?
Darksiders 2 is the next best thing, complete with far better hack n' slash combat, a massive Zelda-esque open-world with item-based unlocks, and character/world design that explodes with individuality.
Playing as Death himself in this sequel, developers Vigil added a full, Diablo-esque loot system to your progression, ensuring you're always getting a slick rollout of armour and weapon-based goodies. Death himself has a brilliantly dark sense of humour about going on an adventure despite his immortal power, giving him that same disdain for the world that Kain also had in those older games.
