In what can only be described as a brilliant mixture of steampunk and cyberpunk, Dishonored was able to combine the joy of a first-person stealth experience with all of the wondrous open-world mechanics that we've come to expect from a modern-day AAA title. The city of Dunwall is a fascinating one to explore, with all of the tiny details working in harmony to create an open-world that feels truly alive. Player choice is once again at the forefront of the game, as the journey throughout the game has some spectacular mission design. Despite all the sneaking around, Dishonored manages to give it some serious scale. The missions are diverse and filled with variety, asking you to improvise in order to get past the curve balls it will inevitably throw at you. It's one of the most rewarding stealth games ever, contrasting its excellent level design with unlimited player involvement.
