Ubisoft have essentially turned into EA this year with all their shady business practices roundly pooping on fans who cough up their hard-earned for a product that's supposed to at least try and live up to expectation. But Assassin's Creed and The Crew aside, Ubi's smaller teams have thrown out the spectacularly gorgeous Child of Light - a title that if its gameplay matched the visuals, would've been on this list too - alongside Valiant Hearts, a moving tale of four disparate souls coming together during World War I. By giving the whole thing a very blocky and over-animated look, it helps identify the project as a really unique take on the source material - especially when you're able to pause the game and read up on a few of the real-world happenings surrounding the characters you're embodying. Regardless of whether you're coming for the puzzles or the story, both intertwine effortlessly, and in the end although there'll not be a dry eye in the house, it proves that for all the things Ubi can get drastically wrong their art department are some of the best in the business.
