20 Best Video Games Of 2017
16. South Park: The Fractured But Whole
Possibly the most unexpected sequel or franchise overall to deliver a tight role-playing experience, South Park's latest is right up there with Persona 5 as some of the year's most recommendable RPGs.
Once again playing as the New Kid, now the kids have decided to "play superheroes", resulting in much the same turn-based combat as before, bolstered by various superpowers and clothing items to customise your character. Interestingly, Fractured But Hole takes a page out of XCOM's book, adding a grid system to your placement on the field and creating a strategic layer to which attacks will land where, and what can be chained together.
Combining this with a steady loot grind, excellent writing and a perfect one-to-one visual style that mimics the show perfectly, South Park certainly isn't the first pick when remarking on 2017 RPGs, but it remains more than worthwhile.
