17. Resident Evil 2 Remake

We didn't think we needed it, but taking one of the best games of all time - the original Resident Evil 2 - and adding RE4's over-shoulder camera and gun handling was the best thing Capcom could've done.

The all-new RE Engine would also be pushed to its limits, rendering some terrifying new Lickers and a now-lumbering Mr. X, who transformed into a number of gruesome beasts for some great fights.

All-round, RE2's remake was a veteran developer getting that rare opportunity to go back to something that worked, applying all the lessons learned along the way.

The end result is the best third-person horror ever made, and a revised template for this style of Resident Evil going forward.
