20 Best Wii Games Of All Time
17. Kirby’s Epic Yarn
Most Kirby games are solid 2D platformers; it's just a series where if you've played one of them, you’ve basically played them all. A few exceptions do exist though, like Kirby's Epic Yarn.
Kirby's Epic Yarn was originally being developed as a game known as "Fluff of Yarn" which featured the character Prince Fluff as the protagonist until it was eventually turned into a Kirby game. So yeah, that's why the game doesn't feel like a Kirby game, it barely is.
In Kirby's Epic Yarn, Kirby no longer has the ability to suck up enemies and gain their abilities. Instead, he harnesses his transformations from the Metamato. This functions as a more traditional power-up system which works surprisingly well. You never really miss the copy ability whilst playing this game.
The entire game is made out of arts and crafts with a focus on yarn which helps the game feel unique. At least unique at the time. Now we have a couple of other Nintendo games with this arts and crafts look, see Yoshi's Woolly World, and Yoshi's Crafted World.
It’s still a great game though, which allows you to platform through one of the most charming worlds on the system.
