20 Best Wii U Games Of All Time
8. Super Mario 3D World
A lot of people were underwhelmed with Super Mario 3D World. Wii U owners were clinging to the idea of a 3D Mario game coming along and saving the system. It would have to be something groundbreaking, something that makes everybody stop laughing at the system and those who brought it. Instead we got a game that looked like the most standard 3D Mario game imaginable.
Mario was no longer exploring the magical worlds found within castle paintings, or a tropical resort, or the far reaches of space. Nope, he was exploring the most bog-standard Mario environments imaginable.
The thing is though, whilst Super Mario 3D World underwhelmed many when it was released, those who have gone back to the game after the initial disappointment wore off discovered a Mario game with some of the best level design the series has ever seen.
That and the ability to play with your friends in a way more interesting than someone controlling a star or a hat made this a truly excellent experience.
Of course with the existence of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, there's not much reason to go back to the Wii U to play this one but still, it's an amazing title.
