17. Lego City Undercover

A lot of the fun from Lego games is unlocking characters you recognise and exploring iconic locations from whatever property TT Games has decided to adapt this week.

Lego City Undercover can't rely on the joy of being in a Lego version of a beloved world as it's one of the few TT Games developed Lego games to take place in an original location, that being Lego City.

So what does a franchise that has never contained really interesting gameplay that can carry the experience do when it can no longer wow gamers with references to the work it's adapting?

The game polishes up that gameplay, relies even more on humour than previous games in the series, becomes Lego GTA, and introduces referencing to a completely unrelated entity, Nintendo.

They also make Lego City feel alive, which makes smashing through the city in one of the many vehicles that can be found in the game all the more appealing.
