20 Biggest Games Of 2014: What Do We Already Know?
19. Child Of Light (April 30)
Child of Light should, we hope, be one of the most inventive and artful games of 2014, a platform-based RPG revolving around a girl named Aurora who wakes up in the magical realm of Lemuria, and attempts to rescue the sun, moon and stars, which have been stolen by the Black Queen. Most exciting is Ubisoft's decision to use the UbiArt Framework they used on the last two Rayman games, ensuring Child of Light is, above all else, going to be a visually stunning work of art. But journalists were recently allowed to play a few hours of the game, and the impressions have been universally positive: VG247 commented that, "underneath the pleasing aesthetic that's had us all oohing and aahing is a narrative-driven RPG with character and soul that wants to be taken seriously." They added that though the game is rather on the easy side, this grants it wide accessibility, even though the combat system is relatively nuanced if players want it to be. Will It Deliver? If the full game is anything like the opening 25%, then the game will almost certainly be great. Fingers crossed.
