20 Biggest Games Of 2014: What Do We Already Know?
18. Wolfenstein: The New Order (May 20)
After 2009's rather limp attempt to reboot the Wolfenstein franchise, it was easy to initially have low expectations for their latest attempt to make the franchise current. Early footage for Wolfenstein: The New Order emphasised its starkly different aesthetic compared to previous games, as well as a far more ambitious narrative, which depicts an alternate reality in which the Nazis won World War II, with William "B.J." Blazkowicz again having to dismantle the Nazis with a wild array of weaponry. PC Gamer recently discussed their impressions of the game, noting that the tone is a lot sillier and more absurd than in previous games, with one of the major enemies being Nazi robodogs, a cross between Dog from Half-Life 2 and a xenomorph. They did also state that the game is rather familiar and quite linear, but that its tongue-in-cheek personality is really what keeps it appealing. Will It Deliver? Few will be expecting rave reviews for the game, but if it's as subversive and over-the-top as we're expecting, then it should be a solid shooter.
