3. Eternal Darkness Wipes Your Memory Card
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSXcajQnasc Eternal Darkness was an absolutely brilliant game, packed full of originality the likes of which hadn't been seen in the survival horror genre for years. The best of the ideas that Silicon Knights brought to the table was the sanity meter, which caused all sorts of weird effects from your character's head exploding through to a little fly on the inside of the TV screen that you couldn't get rid of. The worst of them all was the memory card wipe. The game would randomly ask you if you wanted to wipe your saved data. Naturally the player selects no, only to see the wipe happen anyway. Happily all is restored moments later but there isn't a gamer who didn't scream an angry WTF at the screen when it first happened to them.
