3. The Mirror Room (Silent Hill 3)
Despite being the weakest of the original four Silent Hill games, Silent Hill 3 contained quite a few memorable little set pieces sprinkled here and there. The plot was a bit of a mess, and it lacked the depth and nuance of Silent Hill 2, but it was still a fantastic experience worthy of the name. I mean, the mirror room alone redeems anything lacking about the game; its a stroke of pure, deranged genius.
Upon first entering the room, you might expect the mirror to facilitate nothing but a cheap jump scare, the kind weve seen again and again in all manner of other games. However, this being Silent Hill, the room itself is no threat to you (at first), nor are there any enemies present. Instead, the room begins to deteriorate right before your eyes, eroding away, becoming bloodier and bloodier. The parts of the room that remain the least tarnished and the most heavily effected within the reflection, and vice-versa.
Eventually, Heathers reflection itself will start to become effected by the corruption, appearing more and more like a corpse with each passing second. Its at this point that you should probably leave, given that waiting any longer will cause Heather herself to become effected, and die.
