8. Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike

Street Fighter has always had a penchant for two things - silly, over-the-top names and kick-ass fighting game action. Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike happily continues down both paths; still to this day, it's one of the most played Street Fighter titles. It helps that it was re-released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in a remastered package in 2011 (which also added online multiplayer to the game for the first time) but any version of 3rd Strike is a formidably fun game. There's a wide variety of characters to the roster, starring the classics like Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li, as well as introducing new characters like Makoto and Twelve. Twelve in particular is an incredibly unique character with the ability to transform his arms and legs into weapons to fight with; it looks bizarre in action. With further balances to characters and gameplay, any character in the game can be a world-beater, although we all know you'll be spamming Hadoukens with Ryu and Ken regardless. Partly thanks to the Online remaster again, 3rd Strike is still massively popular within the fighting game community. That could be said for every Street Fighter game to be fair, but 3rd Strike's unique array of characters (plus the parry system remains a popular gameplay addition, adding extra elements of skill) will ensure it remains in people's hearts for a while to come.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
