20 Dead Gaming Franchises That NEED To Come Back
10. Lemmings
Though Grand Theft Auto is Rockstar's greatest achievement, there was a time where the company was best-known for Lemmings.
In this puzzle-platform title, the titular critters must be guided to safety by assigning them specific skills like digging, building, or blocking. The challenge lies in managing limited resources and timing to prevent the adorable rodents from marching to their doom.
Lemmings was hailed as a must-have, since there were few platformers that put so much emphasis on strategy. With Lemmings beings ported on almost every system, it felt like the franchise would be around forever.
But once GTA took off, Rockstar abandoned Lemmings and rarely looked back. There've been a few remasters and mobile spin-offs, but there hasn't been a new entry on a console since 2000.
The original Lemmings may seem dated by today's standards, but the core concept is just as captivating as when it debuted, so there's no real reason why it shouldn't be rejuvenated.
With Rockstar putting all their efforts and money in Grand Theft Auto VI, it seems far-fetched they would circle back to this property any time soon. Nevertheless, any gamer growing up in the 1990s would be overjoyed if another Lemmings was announced.
