20 Disastrous Gaming Launches Everyone Saw Coming

There was much excitement when Aliens: Colonial Marines was announced back in 2008, but enthusiasm began to fizzle away in the years that followed, with the project being continually delayed until a February 2013 release was finally set.

However, the gameplay footage shown off in the months leading up to release demonstrated a marked visual downgrade from prior trailers, making it clear that Colonial Marines was almost certainly going to be a major disappointment at absolute best.

A late review embargo that dropped just the day before it came out definitely didn't help the perception that Sega and Gearbox were about to slough an absolute dud out the door, as indeed turned out to be the case.

Colonial Marines was widely panned for its buggy, generic shooter gameplay, atrocious AI, underwhelming visuals, and naff engagement with Alien lore.

Following its release, reports recounted the game's utterly disastrous development, none of which was even remotely surprising considering the end product's shoddy non-quality.
