20 Essential Gaming Sequels That Must Be Announced In 2014
18. Gears Of War 4
After three core games and one so-so spin-off, Gears of War has established itself as one of the premiere franchises on the Xbox, delivering gut-wrenching mayhem by way of some very big, very husky soldiers. So popular are the games that a movie is in the works, and of course, with Judgment having released just shy of a year ago, fans are eager to learn when the fourth core game in the series will be out. Given that the gap between releases seems to be 2-2.5 years, it would follow that the game will probably be with us in late 2015, or given the extra push for a next-gen release, early 2016. In January, Microsoft purchased the rights for the series back from Epic Games and awarded them to Black Tusk Studios, who will be developing the next game for the Xbox One. We have no confirmation whether this will be Gears 4 or a spin-off title, but given how these new consoles need all the franchise backing they can get, it's a pretty safe bet that it will be the start of a new Gears trilogy.
