Remember when the main entry Pokemon games were all archaic 2D affairs with pixelated sprites and ear-splitting Pokemon cries? Oh how we all patiently awaited the day when Nintendo announced a fully 3D title for a home console that followed the same formula.

That day never (and still hasn't, unless you count Colosseum) came, but we did get Pokemon Stadium, which turned out to be a total blast.

There was no exploration or endless hunting here; Stadium was all about watching your beasts do battle in glorious three dimensions, resplendent colour and superior animations. You were even able to transfer Pokemon you'd caught in Red and Blue straight over to Stadium through use of a nifty 'Transfer Pak'.

I never did make it to the final secret battle with Mew, though.
