3. Ornstein And Smough (Dark Souls)
A huge number of the levels and boss fights from FromSoftwares sadistic 2011 action RPG could feasibly be on this list, but it would be no fun to read through a list full of Dark Souls entries honourable mentions which could easily appear in this spot include Blighttown, Artorias and the Four Kings. From its very first moments, Dark Souls is eerily dark and utterly uncompromising either the gamer will realise that nothing is going to be given to them in this game or they should look for a less challenging experience. In what is arguably one of the most difficult overall gaming experiences of all time, the battle with Dragon Slayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough stands out as being the hardest. Ornstein the captain of the Four Knights of Gwyn uses his incredible speed, agility and lightening attacks to pick the player apart while at the opposite end of the spectrum his large, strong partner Smough utilises his improbably large hammer to cause an incredible amount of damage to anything foolish enough to be caught in its reach. This unforgiving boss fight comes in two stages defeating Ornstein first will result in Smough finishing off the Dragon Slayer and stealing his lightning power while killing Smough means Orstein will absorb the Executioners might and become twice as large. Whichever option you pick, dont expect to be completing it within the first 30-attempts. WhatCulture Tip: Eject the disc and play Skyrim... Just kidding kill off Ornstein first, as most gamers seem to find it marginally easier.
