Release: 2007 Platform: Wii At the time, it seemed impossible that Nintendo would ever outdo themselves with Super Mario 64. Miraculously, Super Mario Galaxy managed to do away with this notion though, by offering an experience that could only be called 3D platforming nirvana. Just about the best game available for the Wii, Super Mario Galaxy offered wildly varied gameplay and surprisingly excellent controls. Every successive planet was more inventive than the last, and the game was crammed with crazy ideas like varying gravitational forces and a fight with a giant, orbiting Bowser. More than just a satisfying successor to Super Mario 64, the game's incredible gameplay made Super Mario Galaxy a giant step forwards for the entire platforming genre.
