The Nintendo 64 - despite it having one of the worst controllers known to man - is probably the greatest console that ever existed. In fact, Nintendo should have named it the Nintendo Dream Machine, because that's essentially what it was.

Okay, I feel I'm brown-nosing just a tad too much here, but just take the likes of GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, Ocarina Of Time and Super Mario 64 as examples, and you've already got a clear pattern of perfection.

Mario had never been witnessed in proper 3D prior to this point, and the prospect of an entire game in the series being three-dimensional was enough to make anyone feel a little woozy with excitement.

Strolling up to the front door of Mushroom Kingdom for the first time; that's a great memory.
