20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn't Know About Silent Hill
5. Silent Hills Isn't The First Cancelled Game In The Series
Gamers are rightfully cut up about the apparent cancellation of Silent Hills, but it wasn't the first promising entry in the Silent Hill series to be cancelled before completion. The first one that involved a fully-rendered 3-D model of Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead, admittedly, which is now presumably just sat on a Konami desktop somewhere, unusued. What a waste, the fangirls cry! If any modern game has come close to snatching the survival horror crown from Konami, it was Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Skipping through generations facing an immortal Lovecraftian evil, key amongst its innovations was the sanity metre; exposed to enough horrifying incidents, the game characters starts to lose their mind. Besides a Metal Gear Solid remake Silicon Knights never put out another game, going bankrupt following a legal battle with Epic Games, resulting in the cancellation of all their games. One was the previously unannounced Silent Hill: The Box. Which looked like it would've been fantastic...had they ever gotten a chance to pitch it to Konami before they went under.
