20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn't Know About Silent Hill

2. The School From The First Game Is Based On Kindergarten Cop

Being developed in Japan, the makers of the original Silent Hill had to look to second-hand sources so they could nail the American setting. They couldn't just pop across the road and find, say, a school to use as a model; instead, they looked to the films and TV shows that influenced the film in the first place. Including a few which have absolutely nothing in common with Silent Hill. Such as, for example, the school from the first game being identical to the one in Kindergarten Cop, where Arnold Schwarzenegger's put-upon police man goes undercover in a local school so he can keep an eye on an escaped drug dealer seeking revenge on his ex-wife and son. And yes, in case you'd forgotten, that is the actual plot of that film. Before all that €œIT'S NOT A TUMOR€ business, anyway. At first, similarities between the Silent Hill school's facade and that of Kindergarten Cop's setting were dismissed as coincidences; then fans dug deeper and discovered that there are also posters, hallways, rooms, furniture, and even a school bus all based on the film. Spooky.
