15. Every Core Game Since GTA III Has Been Delayed
That period between a new GTA game being announced and it actually being released is anxiety-inducing for any fan of the series, largely because Rockstar don't exactly have a stellar reputation for setting a release date and sticking to it. Ever since GTA III, every single one of the five core games has been delayed from its original date: GTA III was held back for three weeks to make several post-9/11 content changes, Vice City was held back by a week to ensure that enough copies were available to meet demand, San Andreas was delayed by a week for unspecified reasons, GTA IV was delayed all the way from October 2007 to April 2008 to polish the game, and GTA V was knocked back from Q2 2013 to September of that year for similar reasons. In total, that's approximately a year's worth of delays for the last five core games, and though the final results have clearly spoken for themselves, perhaps by now Rockstar should know not to announce their release dates too early and wait until they're two or three months from the finish line before actually dropping a street date.
