15. The Dodo Plane Is Technically A Car
Almost impossible to fly, Grand Theft Auto 3's Dodo Seaplane without any wings is the one and only way to take to the skies in Liberty City.
However, according to the game's code, it's not actually a plane at all! It's a car.
Delving into the game's code reveals that under default.ide, the Dodo's in-game type is set to be a car, not a plane.
When you drive it in game, it has several things which identify it as a car. It can survive high-speed crashes, handles like other cars in the game and is the only plane in the entire history of the GTA series to have brakes!
It sounds like Rockstar didn't want to do the work creating an entirely new type of vehicle for the single, almost unflyable aircraft in the game. It's likely the Dodo was added late in development as a sort of added extra, to see if any players could get the thing to fly.
