Despite defeating Vamp in the game, he obviously lives to fight another day, and makes a sneaky re-appearance in Easter egg form in the game's closing cutscene.

After Raiden removes his dog tags, manipulate the cutscene's camera using the the right analog stick to move it around and the right-shoulder button (R1 on PS2) to zoom in.

Keen-eyed players will be able to spot Vamp hanging around by a taxi in the background for a few seconds, seemingly watching Snake and Raiden having their little moment without their knowledge.

Better yet, you'll also pop a trophy, "Vamp Eyer," for the pleasure.

As for Vamp, he returned years later in Metal Gear Solid 4, where you finally get to put him down for good.
