Of all the games on this list, Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth is the one that feels most like a capital-E Event. From the winking showmanship of the release date (February 29th) to Square Enix revealing the game will close with a reworking of gaming's most famous plot twist, Rebirth already feels like the blockbuster of the year - a can't-miss event like Barbenheimer or a new Star Wars movie (back when the latter actually meant something).

Fortunately, the game behind the hype looks incredible as well. FF7 Remake's combat is being improved with new characters and abilities, and the game world promises to be absolutely massive, with new locations being added to the mix alongside old favourites like the Gold Saucer and Junon.
