20 Most Critically Adored Horror Video Games Of All Time

8. Silent Hill 3

Doom 3
Konami

Rating: 85

A direct follow-up to the original title, Silent Hill 3 is set seventeen years after the events of the first game and in that time, the town of Silent Hill has become a friendly, thriving community full of warmth and light.

Of course, that's a complete lie - it's as hostile and grim as it's ever been. An overwhelming sense of doom accompanies Heather's every step and it's why this might have some of the most horrifying moments in the series - that's really saying something.

It doesn't really add anything new or offer great innovation (perhaps the reason it scored lower in the eyes of critics) but for those looking for a horrifying return to nobody's favourite town, it's ideal.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
