15. David Hayter Is Kicked To The Curb
Arguably one of the most iconic voices in video game history, David Hayter has been voicing Solid Snake and Naked Snake since 1998 through nine games. All of which would sadly come to an end in 2013, when it was announced that Hayter would no longer be the voice behind the legendary Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V.
Hideo Kojima released a statement saying they were looking to "recreate the Metal Gear series." It would go on to say "it's a new type of Metal Gear game and we want to have this reflected in the voice actor as well." All that would make sense if the Japanese voice actor, Akio Otsuka, was being replaced as well, but he was not.
Hayter would say the reasoning told to him was that he would not be needed, with no elaboration beyond that. The rather unceremonious parting of ways of the two would bring forth a lot of fan backlash. This wouldn't be the last of drama involving Hideo Kojima though, not in the slightest...
