12. Assassin’s Creed: Origins

Assassin's Creed Origins
Ubisoft

Release Date: October 27 (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

The Hype: After the Assassin's Creed series took a much-needed break last year, it hopes to reinvigorate player interest with this Ancient Egypt-set follow-up.

While it's probably sensible not to expect anything ground-breaking for the series, hopefully the extended development cycle will result in a fresher title that launches in a healthy state.

With revised combat, traversal and scouting mechanics, and the return of the much-loved naval combat alongside a setting fans have been requesting for years, there's every opportunity for Origins to be the series' best entry in a long, long time.
