19. Legend of Grimrock
There was a lot of love for old-school games this year. And one of the best love letters came in the form of Finnish developer Almost Humans dungeon crawler Legend of Grimrock. The games story is simple: an airship drops off a couple of prisoners on top of Mount Grimlock. They can earn their freedom if they descend into the dungeons of the mountain and find a way out. The movement of your party is grid based, as is the combat. While fighting your way through the dungeon of Grimlock, you must also solve puzzles and maintain the stamina of your party. This may sound like its a little too archaic and stilted for its own good, but once you get the hang of the game, its hard to turn off. Its also one pretty gamein that grungy, fungus covered dungeon kind of way.
