17. Mark of the Ninja
Id like to think the pitch for Mark of the Ninja came from some overenthusiastic Klei Entertainment employee who said Imagine Oddworldbut with ninjas!. Mark of the Ninja is a fun stealth-based game that, like Dishonored, allows gamers to play the way they want to play: silently murder everyone you come across, or sneak to your objective without harming a single soul. Mark of the Ninja deserves to be experienced for its uniqueness; instead of being rendered in subpar 3D visuals, Klei went the Saturday morning cartoon route, stylishly animating the game. There are also plenty of ninja goodies to play with (firecrackers, mines, shurikens) and costumes to unlock. The story is a somewhat forgettable yarn, but it serves its purpose, compelling you to play on to the end. Ultimately thats okay, because this is definitely a game where the gameplay is paramount and so ridiculously fun that you dont notice the trade-off unless youre looking for it. If you have ever been even remotely interested in games like Metal Gear Solid or Batman: Arkham City, Mark of the Ninja shouldnt be missed.
