20 Most Overrated Pokémon In History

I'll always remember struggling tremendously against Sabrina's Alakazam when I played through Pokémon Red as a kid. At the time I just couldn't help my team survive its tremendously powerful moves, and recall having to train like crazy to return to the gym and finally overcome it.

Now, however, I take great pleasure in brushing aside many an ill-used Alakazam whenever I get the chance. These days the Psychic fiend has woefully unbalanced stats, meaning that even its type strengths can be brushed aside by a savvy player.

Since its Special Attack and Special Defence carry whopping numbers in the base stats, its Defence and HP are awful. As a result, even the physical attacks of a strong Fighting type can catch it off-guard and deal serious damage. The type match may favour Alakazam, but a strong physical assault against that poor Defence can be deadly.

There are a great number of much more effective Psychic types than Alakazam; anything with slightly better physical stats will have a much longer life.
