3. Far Cry Primal
Time will tell if we get as sick of the 'Far Cry formula' as we did with Assassin's Creed, but 2016's Primal was still an incredibly solid release, despite it being revealed that the map was pretty much a reskin of Far Cry 4.
Still, combat was as tactile and brutal as ever, now coming with spears you could use to pin dudes to walls, tigers to sic on foes and mammoths to ride gloriously into battle.
Going so far back in time breathes genuine new life into your actions, and although the story is a little rushed in spots with far less memorable characters than the series has provided in, say, Far Cry 3, Primal's 'back to basics' combat and exploration is still very worthwhile.
