20 Most Underrated Video Games Of The Generation (So Far)

6. Prey

Prey game
Arkane

Taking inspiration from the likes of classic horror shooters such as System Shock 2, this year's reboot of the Prey franchise was an imaginative and terrifying combination of old and new FPS game design.

Rewarding experimentation and exploration rather than pure first-person shooting reflexes, Arkane Studios' latest is a game that no two people will play through the same. Dropping you into an alien-infested space station and letting you figure the rest out for yourself, you have to have your wits about you if you want to survive long enough to make sense of what's going on.

The story might lose you as it starts revealing more and more of its secrets, but even that doesn't stop the game from being one of the most interesting narrative-driven shooters in recent memory.

Unfortunately, the title was the latest in a long line of causalities that have suffered at the hands of Bethesda's restrictive review policy. With no reviews out there at launch, nobody knew just how great Prey was.
