12. Fallout 76's Disastrous Launch

Red Dead Redemption
Bethesda

As intriguing as the idea of an always-online multiplayer Fallout game was, Bethesda categorically failed to deliver the goods with Fallout 76's flaming trainwreck of a launch.

Between its lack of human NPCs, rubbish story, repetitive missions, and generally awful performance on consoles, reviewers and players alike tore it to shreds, some even deeming it broken and unfit for sale.

It got a lot worse than bad reviews, though, as Bethesda quickly dropped the price in response to terrible sales, and made the launch even more of a botch-job by sending low-quality nylon bags - instead of canvas bags - to those who spaffed $200 on the Power Armour edition.

Though the game is in considerably healthier shape nowadays, Bethesda blew a potential cash cow for themselves by clearly rushing Fallout 76 to market before it was anywhere near ready.

Even for the studio's jank-heavy standards, this was rough.
