The Image: A particularly decrepit, mouldy zombie who, while in the middle of feasting on a poor sap, turns his head as he hears you enter the room. Why It's Powerful: It's the first zombie in the Resident Evil series, and the one we remember the most fondly. This image simply conjures up so many memories of the series, but most specifically, our first encounter with the shambling, groaning undead that would populate most of the better games in the series. Who can forget their sheer terror at seeing this zombie turn his head as ominous music played out, and then being forced to confront the thing? It's a traumatic baptism by fire, albeit one that fostered our love for the series ever since. There may have been enemies more terrifying, tough and grotesque, but this crusty old shuffler has a special place in our hearts for being the first to raise our blood pressure to unhealthy levels.
