20 Most Powerful Gaming Moments Of All Time

19. God Of War 3 (2010) -€“ Clash With A Titan

SCE Santa Monica

The Moment: As you encounter the ridiculously large king of Titans in Tartarus, you can do nothing but be blown away by the incredible design and sheer scale of Santa Monica Studio€™s' behemoth. After Cronos works himself into a rage accusing Kratos of being responsible for Gaia€™'s death, what follows is a visually spectacular boss fight, seeing the Ghost of Sparta rip off one of the titan€™'s fingernails before eventually being swallowed by the father of the Olympians.

How Is It Powerful? God of War is a series which has built up a big part of its reputation as one of Sony'€™s finest exclusives around insane battles against spectacularly large bosses inspired from Greek myth, but there is none larger or more fearsome than Cronos.

The ambition to try and pull-off a battle between Kratos and an enemy many hundreds of times larger than him is impressive in its own right, but to execute it in this highly cinematic and enthralling style is truly an achievement. As you cut your way out from the titan'€™s innards, you know for sure that Kratos is one of the baddest playable characters of all time (as if you needed any further confirmation). This entry could quite easily have been another one of the many incredible boss fights in the God of War franchise. Honourable mentions include the battle with the Hydra but 20-minutes into the first game, the fight with Poseidon when climbing Mount Olympus, and the finale against Aries.
