Once again featuring Laharl, Etna, and Flonne, we see the outcome of Laharl conquering his dads Netherworld. As a group of former retainers plots a coup, and flowers from the Angel world appear, Laharl is mysteriously transformed into a woman. The trio begins a quest to find out the cause of the mysteries while defending Laharls title. Its a Disgaea game. What could be wrong with it? Seemingly, it just didnt innovate enough. To be honest, Disgaea D2 doesnt have the PSN multiplayer content from Disgaea 4, which is slightly disappointing. Not mentioned by reviewers, most of the extra unlockables that made previous games very re-playable is now behind a DLC paywall. It's a shame to see that an actual problem like that isn't mentioned by any of the "journalists". Yet, the critics main problems tended to be that its script was too workmanlike. Some said the gameplay was too simple, others found it to complex.
