3. Valus (Shadow Of The Colossus)
Team IcoThey say you never forget your first time, and in this case taking down your first massive enemy (or are they?) in Shadow Of The Colossus is a genuine adrenaline rush; the sense of scale is incredible as Valus rumbles past you in dramatic style. Then, the hugely dramatic soundtrack starts up as you realise that to defeat this hulking giant, you'll have to climb him. Valus' design is actually fairly easy to navigate; once you've climbed up his foot, bounding up him as fast as possible and killing him in a couple of minutes is easy. Before that though, you'll probably struggle as he attempts to squash you or crush you with his giant hammer; the struggle just makes burying your sword in the back of his head all the more satisfying though. While Valus is the first, debate constantly rages about who the most challenging or fun boss is (can you even call them bosses? there are no other enemies in the game). Everybody's opinion on the matter is going to be different; Valus sticks in the mind as the introduction to these insanely large opponents but some may prefer a different battle to this one. Plus, Valus is one of the few colossi that you might find satisfying to finish; being that as the game progresses you'll inevitably start regretting your violent ways.
