20 Scariest Video Games Of All-Time
15. Half-Life 2
By most people's standards, Half-Life 2 probably isn't considered to be particularly scary... but then you remember Ravenholm, and the horrifying effect that such a place had on your nerves and your soul back when you first played this masterful sequel in 2004, and suddenly Half-Life 2 feels like the most HORRIFIC GAMING EXPERIENCE YOU'VE EVER LAID YOUR HANDS ON. Ahem.
Anyway, for the most part, then, Half-Life 2 isn't all that scary, but there's no denying that the Ravenholm chapter is downright traumatising. That's to say, Half-Life 2 earns a place on our scariest games list for Ravenholm alone. For all intents and purposes, then, Ravenholm is a nightmarish Eastern Bloc-inspired town crawling with the sorts of zombie-like creatures you've come to love (or fear) in the world of Half-Life.
But waiting for you here, hidden in the dark, dank shadows of this hellish place, are hordes of a new species - "fast" zombies, who cry out into the night and attack hero Gordon Freeman with the speed and force of a dozen Xenomorphs. And nobody was expecting it.
