Bulbasaur is the subject of many a meme for its perceived unpopularity compared to the other two original starter Pokémon, but its lack of popularity is certainly misplaced. This Grass/Poison type evolves into the veritable tank that is Venusaur, and can play a dual role in your team with ease.

Throughout its evolutionary line Bulbasaur is able to deal massive damage with Special Attacks while also chipping away at your opponent's status effects with powder attacks. There are so few Pokémon with the right stat numbers to make both of these play out like viable options, making any monster in the Bulbasaur line the perfect utility player when you have to limit your team to just six members.
