20 Things Only Dark Souls Fans Will Understand

3. Laggy Swamp-Sadness

Easily the most irritating area from either game is without a doubt Blighttown. Not only is this area a poison-filled swamp where everything from the floor under your feet to massive mutant bugs can kill you in seconds but you've got to contend with a laggy framerate as the game crawls to a standstill. Naturally all of us Dark Soulers know that this was totally intentional by the creators and is merely just another way to troll us and make it all harder. It totally wasn't accidental or broken or anything. Anyone expecting a rough time will be profoundly shaken by their time in Blighttown. It's so rough down there it's like scraping sandpaper against your cheeks while you're being smacked around inside a mosh pit.

2. The Fear Of Dark Souls Getting Easier

It's truly amazing, but fans of Dark Souls get legitimately concerned whenever there's a threat to the relentless difficultly of the series. The most recent example of this came about when Dark Souls 2 was announced and the director said it would be 'more accessible'. This instantly led to fears that the game was about to be loads easier to cater for a wider audience and the Dark Souls community collectively papped their knickers in trepidation. Thankfully such fears were laid to rest when Dark Souls 2 came out and the debate was reignited around it maybe being even be harder than the first one. The fear still exists though; gamers are still extremely scared whenever there's a patch for the game, fearing the dreaded nerfing of weapons or tweaks of any kind that make an area easier. We're purists at heart and we do not appreciate adjustments being made to our difficulty, thanks very much.
