14. That Intense Wait When The First Loading Bar Comes On

Will there ever be a day when Pokémon GO's servers are butter-smooth? Perhaps, but it's a far cry from where they are right now.

At time of writing (and since launch, really) they'll occasionally bottom out before connecting, will freeze as you catch a Pokémon or worse, will load... but none of your progress will appear, leading to another refresh and a crossing of the fingers you boot in a second, third or fourth time.

The funny thing is, you can tell from how much of the blue bar loads, if the rest of the game will follow suit. That difference between a quarter and half is a chasm, rather like the wait when your ageing PS2 would zoom through the boot-up sequence, leaving you with either the disc you inserted or the basic menu screen instead.
