20 Things We Learned From Gamescom 2016
10. Someone On Dishonored 2's Team Has Been Playing The Darkness
It's still pretty crazy to think that the relatively new Arkane Studios are handling both Prey and the Dishonored sequel, but in doing so with the backing of Bethesda no less, they'll hopefully be pumping out two incredible games in the next few months.
Thankfully, we got eyes on an extended gameplay demo, one where the newly-playable Emily Kaldwin has a reft of new abilities, including one that looks exactly like Starbreeze's The Darkness' had more than a little influence.
Shifting to a silent-moving 'shadow form' (called 'Shadow Walk'), you're then able to wrench hapless enemies off the ground and literally tear them in half with a mix of claws and blades. Another new ability is a 'chaining' buff, meaning whatever happens to one target will affect the others in turn - just slit one throat and watch all others in the area suddenly open up and die as one.
Arkane seem to be making experimentation one of their signature traits, and as the sequel to their claim to fame, Dishonored 2 is already the place to see their finest work so far.
