20 Upcoming Video Games That Might Surprise You
10. Turok: Origins
The Internet didn't have much kind to say about Turok: Origins when it was first announced, because the decision to shift the series' first major game in 20 years to a third-person perspective made it feel decidedly un-Turok from the jump.
Developer Saber Interactive later clarified that players will be able to toggle between first and third-person viewpoints in the final release, though that wasn't good enough for many, who saw it as an indication that Saber didn't want to commit to a full-fat FPS due to the genre's decline in recent years.
Some fans also complained about the marketing showcasing as many aliens as dinosaurs, the game's relatively ho-hum art style, and the general emphasis on co-op multiplayer.
But recent press previews for Turok: Origins have skewed pretty damn positive, some even considering it a potential sleeper hit in the making. In the very least, it looks like it just might blow past through-the-Earth's-core expectations.
Turok: Origins releases in Q3 or Q4 2026.
