Those who only played Master Mode in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom might be surprised to hear about people complaining about the difficulty of Master Mode in Breath of the Wild.

After all, the mode doesn’t seem too punishing in Tears of the Kingdom, and since the sequel is very similar to the original game, it feels like there shouldn’t be any major changes there, either.

However, the Master Mode in Breath of the Wild is easily the most painful challenge either of the games can inflict on you.

Master Mode is the special hard mode released in the Master Trials DLC. The enemies in this difficulty setting are powered up by one level, they can spot Link from further distances, and some of them are replaced with special golden variants that are significantly stronger. The worst part of Master Mode, however, has to be the fact that enemies also have faster health regeneration—so much faster, in fact, that unless you’re constantly on the attack, they're virtually unkillable.

In Tears of the Kingdom’s Master Mode, you can simply avoid most of these encounters with your contraptions. In Breath of the Wild, however, every single fight is pretty much mandatory due to your foes’ increased detection, and they all take forever to finish.
