10. Gone Home (2013)
PC: 86% | PS4: 85% | XBO: TBD | NS: 88%
Here is another walking simulator, and much like What Remains Of Edith Finch, it is a story-driven experience. These type of games don't have the same urgency and reward systems as other available genres, but the slower pace and lack of traditional mechanics are what elevate walking simulators into works of art. The narrative is put at the forefront of Gone Home and there are no mechanics to distract or fluff up the gameplay, so the gaming experience will rise or fall on the title's ability to deliver its story.
The game is set in 1995 and you play as 21-year-old Katie Greenbriar, who is coming back home from a stint overseas. Where your family was supposed to be present for your homecoming you find the house deserted with objects of interest left about the home. From there, you are tasked with piecing together what may have happened before your arrival. Progression occurs in a non-linear fashion and by interacting with objects around the household.
The game's rating on the Xbox One is undetermined due to a lack of aggregated professional reviews, but the title is available to enjoy on all platforms.
