For better or for worse, this game cannot be played as a single player experience and instead can only be enjoyed as a split-screen co-op via local or online play.
A brilliant feature to this limitation, though, is one called "play free online" where a player can join another player online without both players having to own the game. The only requirement is that the one hosting the playthrough has the game and the individual joining in has either an Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus account.
A Way Out is a prison break story that follows escapees Leo and Vincent from their incarceration to the activities they get up to afterwards. The game is designed in such a way that both characters are tasked with their own narratives and goals progressing at the same time, and at certain points these moments link up and players have to work together to progress the story.
The game is as ambitious as it is novel, and thoroughly worth the six hours it takes to complete.
