20 Video Games That Punish You For Being Too Skilled

18. Grizzly Bears - Inscyption

Oblivion Remastered

Inscryption is a unique deck-building roguelike in which you play a game of cards with questionable rules against a serial killer who has trapped you in his forest cabin.

The game's stakes are deadly high, so you might think you should really give it your best to stay alive. However, skilled gameplay is actually a sure-fire way to get killed.

The first boss of the game, Leshy, is a pretty fair opponent, but this said, he has a bit of a sore spot for being humiliated.

Although winning against him normally lets you progress to the next stage, if you beat Leshy too quickly, the man will suddenly spawn a full deck of grizzly bears that are essentially unbeatable early in the game right before you can go for the finishing move.

Now, this secret punishment is likely a trap for cheaters. However, it is still very much possible to get close to beating Leshy fast with pure skill alone.

The game punishes you for overly skilled gameplay, but then again, what else would you expect out of a card tournament against a deranged murderer?
